2018 March Madness South Region

Every year sports fans look forward to March because it truly is all out madness in the NCAA basketball tournament.

The South Region could be the most intriguing out of all four regions. Here’s how I think round one will play out in the South.

1 Virginia vs. 16 UMBC

Virginia simply because this is a really good basketball team that’s only lost 2 games all season vs. a UMBC squad who can’t shoot free throws.

8 Creighton vs. 9 Kansas st.

Creighton wins because throughout the season they’ve shot the ball extremely well and I don’t think Kansas st. has a good enough defense to stop the Blue Jays.

5 Kentucky vs. 12 Davidson

Every year it seems the 5 vs 12 is always the most fun game to watch, unfortunately for Kentucky I think Davidson will beat them. Davidson has a team that can fly with Kentucky and they’re one of those teams that play better the tighter the game gets.

4 Arizona vs. 13 Buffalo

Arizona could arguably be the best basketball team going to the tournament. Playing a much weaker Buffalo squad I expect that the wildcats will cruise to a win in round one.

6 Miami(FL) vs. 11 Loyola Chicago

Miami is a significantly weaker basketball team without their sophomore guard Bruce Brown Jr however I think they’ll move past the first round in the tournament.

3 Tennessee vs. 14 Wright State

Tennessee is going to win this game. I don’t know how more blunt I can be. They play better teams all season and lost the same amount of games as Wright State. I’d be hard pressed to say this game won’t be a blowout.

7 Nevada vs. 10 Texas

It’s hard to bet against Nevada in this game. They score better, they rebound better, they defend better, They’re just better.

2 Cincinnati vs 15 Georgia State
